Tekfen is a Turkish conglomerate based in Istanbul. The name "Tekfen" is a combination of Teknoloji (Technology) and Fen (Turkish meaning: science). The company's subsidiaries engage in construction activities including power generation, airports, petroleum, and roadways. Tekfen primarily operates in Turkey, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Middle East, North Africa, and Europe. ==History== The company was founded by three young entrepreneurs, Feyyaz Berker, Nihat Gökyiğit and Necati Akçağlılar in 1956. The three co-founders first met at the Ministry of Public Works, where they were employed upon returning from civil engineering studies in America. Two of the partners, and later the third one, left their state offices to found Tekfen.
